can Podiatry help me Musculoskeletal Podiatrists can assist in the identification of lower limb and foot dysfunction, which may contribute to a variety of musculoskeletal pathologies. 

By analysing movement dysfunction and asymmetry they can implement an appropriate treatment programme, which may include orthoses, footwear advice, mobilisations, taping, injection therapy or referral on to expert physiotherapists for appropriate exercise programmes.  

 

What happens during the consultation

A thorough history and clinical examination is undertaken to ascertain and identify the structure causing the pain. It may mean referral on for diagnostic imaging and/or consultation with one of our consultants. Once the diagnosis has been established a clinical gait analysis is undertaken to identify loading patterns that could be contributing to the injury.

Please bring a pair of shorts and footwear that you usually wear. If your back is problematic please bring clothing that allows us to examine it properly. The initial consultation will usually last between 45min to 1 hour.
